Will these use the electrication between Paddington and Maidenhead and/or Scours Lane and Didcot - or will they run on diesel throughout?

In theory Maidenhead to Scours Lane was electrified from 1400 yesterday, so it's a fair bet that the following month will be used to ensure that enough drivers are trained up to run on either mode from Paddington to Didcot, but don't quote me! Members attending the next Bristol meeting could have the opportunity of arriving bi-mode on the 1345 from Paddington.

My understanding is that driver haven't been trained to use AC mode and that the engines are yet to be fully rated at 940 bhp.

So I will assume a 10 car set with 3 powered vehicles per 5 car set rated at 750 bhp will have 4500 bhp available for 10 cars. So about the same as a 2+8 HST I think.

I'm planning to take the 06.00 ex BRI on Mon 16/10/17 as far as SWI then pick up the 07.00 ex PAD and follow that diagram to end up back in Brizzle on the 19.00 ex PAD.

This is subject to confirmation they will be IET worked - anyone know when final decision will be made?

Also doing 09.30 BRI - PAD on Tue 17/10/17, whether IET or not.

Will type up logs pronto.
