Liverpool Lime Street closure, Autumn 2017 - Posted: August 30, 2017 - 8:14 PM Quote and reply
More details are now available about the closure of Liverpool Lime St. between 30 September & 22 October 2017.

EM, LM, TP (Scarborough trains) and West Coast services will start from / terminate at Liverpool South Parkway; a temporary extension to Platform 4 at South Parkway will be used by Pendolinos.

Northern local services to Manchester Oxford Road via Warrington Central will start from / terminate at Hunts Cross.
Passengers may use their "Liverpool" tickets on Merseyrail Electric services between Liverpool (Central), South Parkway or Hunts Cross.

TP Liverpool - Manchester Victoria - Newcastle trains will not run west of Leeds.

Until 8 October, Northern services via Huyton will be replaced by buses between Liverpool and either St. Helens Central or St. Helens Jn.

From 8 to 20 October, limited midweek rail services will run between Liverpool Lime St. and either Wigan/Preston via St. Helens Central, or Manchester Victoria via Earlestown. (According to RTT, only Platforms 1 & 2 will be in use at Lime St. in this period. )

On 21/22 October, buses will run between Lime St. & Huyton.

New pointwork has been deposited in the Huyton / Roby areas, presumably to connect the reinstated 4th track (Roby Jn - Huyton Jn) to the rest of the network. However, for some reason, the "new" platform 4s at both Huyton & Roby have been partly "dug-up", with the platform edges removed.

Most of the trackwork for the fourth track between Broad Green & Huyton is laid. The temporary platform extension at South Parkway is nearly complete. The Virgin West Coast shack betwen platforms 7 & 8 at Lime Street has been demolished as it is the way of two new platforms.

One correction to the above. Only "any operator" tickets to "Liverpool Stations" will be accepted on Merseyrail Electric connections to/from Liverpool South Parkway.

TOC-specific tickets (Virgin only, LM only, etc.) will not be valid, and these passengers will need to purchase tickets to travel between South Parkway & Liverpool.

Just tried to get an Advance ticket on the Trans Pennine Express website for October Huddersfield to Liverpool Lime Street and would have been able to book changing at Liverpool South Parkway & Moorfields.

Further updates relating to the Liverpool Lime St closure.

1. Merseyrail Electrics services will not run between Liverpool South Parkway & Hunts Cross. Rail replacement buses will run between Hunts Cross, South Parkway & Liverpool.

2. Before about 20:00, Kirkby & Ormskirk line services will terminate at / start from Moorfields.

3. For much of the day, Ellesmere Port will be served by shuttle services to/from Hooton; passengers for Liverpool to change at Hooton.

One purpose of the changes is to release enough units to provide 6 coaches on services to/from South Parkway.

For performance recorders, on Sundays, alternate trains will run non-stop between South Parkway & Liverpool Central. There are alsp a few very early & late evening expresses on weekdays.
