9102 said: La Vie du Rail has indeed published a set of French profiles, put together by RPS member Reinhard Douté, who is of course the developer who produced the software we use for the RPS SNCF profiles and who has also supplied us with much of the data. Reinhard's profiles cover the whole of the network, with the type of info found in our charts plus curve radius; there is an introductory text explaining the various symbols and conventions used, in French and English (the latter mostly translated by me, but - disclaimer! - I have no financial interest in the operation) The books (2 vols) are theoretically distributed in the UK by Ian Allan, at a prohibitive price. This could seem to duplicate the RPS SNCF charts, but (in agreement with Reinhard) we have decided to continue the latter. They do offer added value for the recorder, first on account of the accompanying descriptive text, distance tables, etc. and secondly because Reinhard's work is intended mainly as a reference book for operators, and its bulk, weight (and price)do not make it a handy travelling companion.
