I notice the last couple of days that there are only two Scotrail HST Diagrams is this just because the timetable has been reduced or other causes?

Don't know but a swift look at today's RTT shows at least 5 in action, so better. It's a fair few days since ASLEF reached agreement over the pay dispute but no sign yet of its member's vote which, if positive, will probably necessitate more HSTs out.

Iíve just returned from 10 days in Scotland - a week of which was spent staying in a cottage with an excellent view over the Stirling - Perth line near Blackford. There have been plenty of HSTs out and about including a number of 2+5 sets but there is no guarantee it seems that a service worked by an HST one day will not be a unit the next or indeed vice versa. Unit diagrams can be HST worked though there is probably a tendency for fewer HSTs to be used on Saturdays.

Best advice is to keep an eye at all times on RTT to see whatís allocated to what on each day - but beware this can change last minute (as I discovered yesterday when a train from Aberdeen which had been booked 2+5 HST when I checked at breakfast time had changed to a 170 by the time I got to Aberdeen 3 hours later - unrelated to the chaos caused from early afternoon yesterday by a line side fire between Greenhill Jn and Carmuirs Jn which blocked that route until almost close of service)
