Northern Trains are relying on passengers to distance themselves. Not working on one train seen. TPE still restricted to where you can sit.
Leeds-London trains today. Compulsory reservations, but trains quiet and a passenger sat behind my seat. No reservation displays illuminated, no food/drink, no ticket or social distancing checks, no face mask checks.

Anglia-free for all with social distancing advised by the tannoy. “Static Buffet Trolley” in the rear coach of the 12 car emus, but better than LNER.
Leeds-no platform refreshments but plenty on concourse. Peterborough-no station retailers open. Hot drinks from a small shop near the Kings Lynn bus stop, otherwise Greggs in the Queensgate Centre nearest, a 5 min walk away. Ipswich has a Greggs and small café. Most retail units closed at Norwich apart from Subway/Supermarket. £1 hot drinks from a centrally placed small trolley. Didn’t have much time at Liverpool St, but outlets open. Kings Cross has some outlets open but the chance of getting a hot drink in the 15 mins available before my train seemed remote due to Qs. Toilets open at Leeds Norwich/Ipswich, others not checked.

Two trips on Northern today(28/7):
Middlesbrough-Newcastle cl 156;sit anywhere-no attempt by some passengers to social distance, Horden-Sunderland in particular where it was busy. There was a face mask check after Hartlepool however.
York-Leeds cl 195. some seats had do not sit here banners, but you were free to sit around tables and in front/behind passengers on adjoining bays. The Conductor did stipulate a 1 metre plus edict though.
